Recycling, Reuse & Returnability

Our aim is to have a circular ecosystem where we minimize our total resources.

Facts:

  • 33% of the packaging we use is returnable packaging and is reused.

  • Our recycled cardboard packaging increased from 4% to 74% in Turkey.

  • We use 50% recycled plastic in our plastic cases in Turkey. We aim to increase it to 75%.

  • In line with our targets, we recycled 8,813 kg of glass, 824 kg of metal, 11,193 kg of paper and 4,278 kg of plastic in 2022.

We are looking for solutions:

• Organic and inorganic waste separation solutions

• Innovative technologies for waste reduction, recycling and sustainable packaging

• Solutions to increase the return of returnable bottles from the end consumer to contribute to sustainable packaging and recycling processes.

• Technology-based solutions that will ensure traceability of products from the production process to the dealer in accordance with circular economy principles

• Data collection and analysis solutions to monitor materials recycling rates and improve sustainable supply chain management

• Comprehensive traceability and management systems that can track the current status, location and usage processes of beer cases, pallets and kegs throughout the dealer and distributor network in real time

Packaging & New Materials

We aim to increase the use of innovative and environmentally friendly materials in our packaging, service and advertising materials to reduce our environmental footprint.

Facts:

  • In designing and producing our new corporate clothing, we used Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) certified cotton, which has 60% less carbon footprint than conventional cotton. In addition, we chose 2 tons of recycled fiber material in the production of the collection. Tekstar, which has the international renewable energy I-REC certificate, ensured 92% less carbon footprint in the production of our sustainable designs. In addition, the products in the collection were shipped with 100% recycled cardboard boxes purchased from FSC certified suppliers. We also supported women’s labor and women’s participation in business life in Sinop with the production of the 4-season collection consisting of 40 pieces.

  • We used different bioplastic solutions on small scales that reduce plastic use. We produced a bioplastic service bucket made from 20% olive pits.

We are looking for solutions:

• Innovative material and design technologies that will ensure that materials such as crates and pallets used in transportation and storage processes in the beer production industry are more durable and sustainable.

• Light and environmentally friendly packaging materials (shrink, cardboard box, etc.)

• Improvements to eliminate plastic stretch film while maintaining transportation quality

• Innovative technologies for multipacks

• Material technologies that contribute to sustainability goals by focusing on innovations that will reduce environmental impacts in the design and production of POSM materials such as coasters, glass cups, signs and price tags

• Material coating technologies to reduce friction in glass bottles in the packaging industry

Upcycling

We want to create added value and reduce environmental impact through upcycling.

Facts:

  • In 2022, we clarified the process of converting malt pulp into malt fiber by deciding on the drying method and grinding specifications. As a result, we obtained a high-fiber, high-protein and sugar-free, functional raw material and started working on the use of malt fiber in different food sectors.

  • During this period, Malty, a graduate of the Anadolu Efes intrapreneurship program and the first spin-off of the program, launched Malty Bites, the first commercial product of upcycled malt fiber, to the market. Snacks, which have a higher fiber content than similar products with 15% malt fiber in their content, were offered to consumers and brought into the circular economy.

We are looking for solutions:

• Innovative and sustainable solutions for the use of Kieselguhr as a value-added raw material

• Innovative and sustainable solutions for the use of malt pulp in areas that provide added value and minimize environmental impacts

• Stabilization solutions to prevent malt pulp from deterioration and promote its sustainable and efficient use

• Solutions to improve the functionality or nutritional profile of malt pulp and yeast

• Solutions that will make the transportation of malt pulp, which is only 20-40% dry matter, economically and environmentally suitable by reducing its moisture.

• Innovative solutions for the use of hop organic waste in environmentally sustainable and added value areas
